Free UMPC Origami hardware?
The list of sites to get Free Microsoft Origami hardware is growing.
They seem to be falling into two main categories.
The first is the promotional giveaway. They are giving away Free UMPC devices in order to generate website traffic / or interest in products. The upside is that these are less likely to have your email end up on a spammer's list. They are sponsored by sites as well known as Microsoft itself. The downside is that the only giveaway a limited (usually 1) amount of UMPCs. The more people that enter / the more people you tell about it, the less chance you have of winning.
And then there is the second category. The complete an offer / refer a friend model. These sites require you to jump through a few hoops. They hope that you cannot successfully dot all of your i's and cross all of your t's. Because if you do, the company has to give you the Origami device. But if you don't, then all of the income which you generated for them, is free money for them. Many of these sites, like FreePay (aka Gratis) who brought you freeipods.com have a solid track record. If you complete the requirements you will get your UMPC. But that doesn't mean that you won't get a bucketload of spam as well.
So my advice? Do them all. It doesn't cost anything, but your time. Make sure you cancel anything you intended to cancel. Make sure you guard your email. And make sure to cross every last t.
